Fumigation for Drywood Termites
Please note: In the State of California, fumigations for drywood termites can only be offered after an identification by a licensed termite inspector. If you suspect you have a drywood termite infestation please contact Innova Termite to schedule an inspection.
Drywood Termite Fumigation Process
Fumigations take about 3 days to complete (weekend fumigations take longer).
Day 1: Tarps are installed and a weighed amount of Vikane (sulfuryl fluoride) is injected under the tent along with a signaling agent called chloropicrin. Chloropicrin is a mucus membrane irritant.
Day 2: After a minimum exposure time of 18 hours, a vent attached to the tent is opened and a fan is used to evacuate the fumigant.
Day 3: The tent is removed and a meter is used to ensure that the levels of fumigant gas are low enough for safe re-entry.
